If you are planning to burn this spring please consider the following:

• Is there any burning restrictions?
• What are the predicted weather conditions?
• How dry is the fuel you are burning?
• If you are burning piles, do you have an adequate  guard to contain the fire?
• If the pile is too big, have a smaller burn pile and feed it from the larger one.
• Watch for hidden surprises in tall  grass (such as aerosol cans).
• Do you have enough water if things get out of hand?
• Do you have the right tools for the job?
• When burning tall grass, watch the winds, and never turn your back on the fire.
• Do you have the time, to watch it and make sure it's out?
• Remember it's up to you to make sure what you are burning is contained, and extinguished.
