Clearwater
Improvement District (CID) Mission Statement |
| |
To
provide the highest quality of community services within the
stated boundaries of the approved Letters Patent in the most
effective, efficient and environmentally safe manner possible. |

The
Letters Patent state the responsibilities of the CID: |
| |
- provision of water for waterworks and irrigation purposes;
- the collection and disposal of garbage;
- the collection and disposal of sewage;
- the drainage and dyking of land;
- the provision of street lighting; fire protection, cemeteries,
parks and playgrounds;
- the acquisition, maintenance, and operation of works for
such purposes;
- all things incidental to the foregoing.

Provincial
Government is not willing to expand the list of responsibilities
that Improvement Districts are authorized to administer. Other
functions are performed by other bodies such as the Thompson-Nicola
Regional District or provincial government.
